WHY I SHOULD LOVE MY BODY AND DIFFERENT BODY TYPES FOR WOMEN

This past week my beloved Wellness and Inspiration blog, “ Wacha niKwambie” focussed on dressing according to body shape for ladies. Beginning a month of focus in the blog dubbed,  October 2017 – My body, my dress, my choice – a focus on dressing according to body shape  and mandatory physical wellness checks for ladies and gents.

However, one thing worth noting is that each of us must love our body shapes irrespective  of what society or fashion deems the perfect body shape. Love your body because you are made in the image of God. Love your body shape because it reminds you of a dear relative whose characteristics you have inherited. Perhaps your big bust reminds you of your grandmother or your legs of a dearly loved mother as the case is for me. Also when people notice that you love yourself for who you are, they end up loving and appreciating you too.

Remind yourself that when you look at the mirror you are normally harder on yourself  than other people are to you, you are beautiful or handsome as case may be!! Look at your body and appreciate what it has done for you over the years – perhaps it has brought forth children to life, conquered a difficult disease, won races, taken  you through different careers and businesses.

Finally, for those of us who are parents or guardians it is advised that we love our body shapes as these same attitudes are the same that our children and dependents adopt that is self love or self loathe of their body shapes.

The whole idea of dressing according to body shape for ladies  is to accentuate curves  and give balance to your body.

The main body shapes are pear, wedge, rectangle, apple and hour glass shape.

Pear body traits: Here the lower body is wider than the upper body — in other words, the hips are wider than the shoulders. The  bottom is rounded and your waist is well-defined.

Wedge body traits: Also known as the inverted triangle, this body shape features a broad chest and wide shoulders with narrow waist and hips.

Rectangle body traits: The waist, hip and shoulder widths are similar.

Apple shape: Apple shape – accumulates weight around the stomach area, tends to have a bigger upper body than lower body. Waist area not very well defined. Most of your weight is above the hips, which are narrow. Your back, ribs and shoulders are broad.

Hourglass body traits: Ones shoulders and hips are similar in proportion and set off by a tiny waist.

Another blog post will ensue on how best  to dress this different body shapes of women.

Have a lovely weekend ahead!
